Pre-Christmas FUN!!!

We had many fun things to do leading up to Christmas this year. The kids kept track of the days before christmas through an advent calendar I made. Each day had an mini-ornament that they got to put on their little trees in their room. I also wrapped 25 Christmas books and each night they got to unwrap one and we would read it together. It was a great way to read about Santa, snowmen and the birth of Christ.

Now that Aubrey is a little bit older, I decided to take her to the Nutcracker. We had a girls day out and really enjoyed ourselves. Aubrey did a great job and loved the dancers esp. the Sugar Plum Fairy. She also really liked the fight between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King. It brought back many good memories of going to see it with Mom and the girls. I'm happy to be carrying on that great tradition. Aubrey of course is now showing the world what a lady she can be when seated. :)

At our wards Christmas party the children did the Nativity scene. It was put to the primary song, Picture a Christmas. Both Jason and Aubrey had a part and did a fine job.

Jason was Angel Gabriel. He wasn't sure he wanted to do this until I explained that angels are not always girls and that it was a very important part of the Nativity. He did great but wasn't sure he liked all the people looking at him.
Aubrey was a cute little sheep. She was so happy to get to crawl out on the stage with all her sheep friends. I was the sheepherder behind the scenes. Thank goodness for all the years of experience I had growing up!Aubrey invited 2 friends over to make Gingerbread Houses. Jason enjoyed it also. These babies are made to last. Jason dropped his on the floor tonight and it staying in one piece and only lost a few pieces of candy. I did learn however that it doesn't matter the age of the girls, three's a crowd. I think next time we will only invite them over one at a time.

In keeping with tradition, we had a Christmas Eve dinner. We all enjoyed all the fixin's and look forward to all the snacking tomorrow.

Another tradition that has been continued is the christmas PJ's. I made everyone some festive jammies. Trent, Jason and I all have pants and Aubrey got a nightgown that reminded me of many that Mom made for me over the years. They turned out pretty good and I didn't have much stress as compared to years past. The kids are now in bed and my work is just beginning. They are very excited to see what Santa will bring.

They really are cute little munchkins! Aren't they!!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun family traditions being carried on. But where are the "PLANS"? Too bad Aubrey and Jason don't have orange and yellow bedspreads to "go make plans on":) We did miss all of you but it sounds like all was very well enjoyed and you did a GREAT job on all the PJ's. Walmart supplied mine due to the lack of sewing time. Have a great new year!
