We decided to take a mini-Spring Break this year. We went to Bristol Tennessee, which is literally on the border of Tennessee and Virginia. We stayed at a KOA in this cute little camping cabin.

Jason and Aubrey loved staying in our "own" cabin. We were even luckier because the bathrooms/showers where right next door. We didn't have to worry about running across the campground when we had to "go".

The cabin was equipped with a bunk bed and a double bed. We had to provide our own bedding though. The kids were super excited to get to sleep in their sleeping bags.

It didn't take Jason long to drop off to sleep. He actually fell asleep during a movie we were trying to watch on our little 7 in. TV.

Aubrey, however, would stay awake all night if we let her. She was too excited to even think about sleep.

Our first stop was to Bristol Caverns. We really enjoyed looking at the interesting formations and learning about the history of the cavern.

Aubrey had a fun time and liked the pretty rocks.

These caverns were carved by an ancient underground river 200 to 400 million years ago. Stalactites and stalagmites have grown together to form columns that reach from the floor to ceiling.

A lot of the formations look like waterfalls or billowing draperies. Indians used the underground river as an attack and escape route when they raided the settlers. They would swoop down on unsuspecting families and then disappear as if swallowed up by the earth.

After climbing up and down stairs and walking through the caverns we needed to refuel. We found and nice little park and had a picnic lunch. Aubrey is still sporting a colorful eye from her soccer smackdown the week before.

Our next stop was the Bristol Motor Speedway. The "World's Fastest Half Mile". We drove up to the track, Jason looked out and was instantly in 7th heaven.

We took a tour of the track and dragway. They even let us go up to the owner's Suite and get the view from the best seats in the place. It was awesome!

The great thing about the tour was that they drove us out onto the dragway and race track. (in our mini tour bus!) We raced down the dragway and then around the track. We even got to get out of the bus and walk on the track. The degree of banking in corners is between 24 to 30 Degrees. It was hard to walk up to the wall. Mom stayed down due to unstable knees and documented the efforts. Trent said walking back down was the hardest.

Jason couldn't leave until we went to the winner's circle and celebrated. He said that it would be so cool to be the winner of the race. What a way to cap off our visit to Bristol Motor Speedway.

We came home from Tennessee right in time for the Easter Bunny's visit. He left a trail of eggs that Jason and Aubrey had to follow. Jason followed the blue/green/orange eggs and Aubrey followed the pink/purple/yellow eggs which eventually led to the baskets. Along the way that fun bunny left surprises.

Aubrey got a princess backpack with wheels. This is in preparation for our trip to Utah in a few months. She was happy to see those two little wheels in the bottom.

Finding her pink easter bunny basket made it a really exciting morning!

Jason (excuse the mis-matched pj's) found some monster trucks along his trail of eggs and a Nascar game for his leapster.

He is happy to find his basket waiting at the end of the trail too!

After all the Easter Bunny fun, we got dressed for church. Aubrey was super cute. She needed to have a purse, gloves and "fuzzy" socks. She is turning in to quite a little lady.

Jason is still our handsome gentleman. Of course, all he needed was a new "Easter" tie and he looked pretty snazzy.

And that brings us to our spring lesson on 1st ammendment rights and priviledges. The kids and I attended Greensboro's Tea Party to protest the spending free-for-all that is taking place in D.C. There were about 2000 people there and is was great.

Even Aubrey got into it when the crowd was chanting "Enough is Enough". She likes to cheer, clap and yell with the best of them. Don't ask me how my children ended up on the stage, but you know how much we love the spotlight. As you can see, life is interesting here in the tarheel state!!!

Wow, That was a neat cabin you stayed in..it looked like you really had fun. The cave reminded me of Lehman cave west of Delta and race track what a treat for Jason. What handsome and lovely children..all dressed up! I'm glad you had such a fun time, even at the Tea Party.
